August Meeting Recap

Cache LGBTQ+ Collective Stickers

In July’s meeting, we discussed using stickers of the purple flower icon from our logo to help denote allied spaces, particularly local businesses.

Our wonderful Memory Steward, Ronda Browning, is willing to share her monthly meeting notes by request. If you would like them, please email Ronda at [email protected]

Kelsey Crowson, our Education Steward, shared that next Spring, psychology PhD students could help us with some skills training or community advocacy efforts. Let Kelsey know if you have requests on projects we can propose to them!

Cache LGBTQ+ Collective Benefit Concert

We’re still working on the finishing touches for the Collective’s benefit concert happening next month! Join our meeting on the 30th if you want to hear more about it and get involved.

We are also looking for one more musician for the concert! Please reach out to us if you may be willing to perform, or if you know of a local queer artist who may be interested. Even if we fill this last spot, we would love a roster of artists to be able to contact for future events.

Logan Pride Recap

Logan’s Pride Festival, themed “Joy: Front and Center” was a wonderful success. Center Street was packed with people and fun booths like ours! The Collective had a blast collaborating with attendees in making a “Community Galaxy” and playing giant Jenga.

We can’t wait to return to this event next year and see what’s to come. Thank you to everyone who volunteered and those who attended the festival!

Resource Highlight

Staying safe when private HIPAA information is subpoenaed from medical providers about gender-affirming services

Take Action!

What you can do to make positive change for LGBTQ folks in Cache Valley?

  • Attend local school board meetings

  • 5 Calls App: The "5 Calls" app is a civic engagement tool that simplifies contacting elected officials. Find out about current issues, identifies your representatives, and find scripts to help you communicate your views via phone calls. Make your voice heard!

  • City Elections are going on right now!

  • Consider how you can support those who are allies in your community! Special shoutout to teachers that you know who support our queer youth. ❤️

Thank you for reading! We look forward to seeing you at our next Collective meeting on the 30th of this month.

During the meeting, we’ll be giving an update about The Collective’s website, talking about upcoming events, and more!
